Dr Hilary Jones, MBE, GP, author and medical broadcaster qualified at the Royal Free hospital in 1976 and has been ITV‘s Health Editor on TV a.m. Daybreak, Good Morning Britain and the Lorraine Kelly show since 1989.
His extensive and varied medical career has seen him working as a single-handed medical officer on Tristan da Cunha, the most isolated inhabited island in the world, and as a troubleshooting medic for the oil industry in Shetland. He has been described as the U.K.’s most well-known and trusted GP and his TV broadcasts have seen him cover breaking medical news stories not just at home but internationally.
He has reported on the aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti, the launch of the much-needed pneumococcal vaccine for children in Sierra Leone and the war in Kosovo. He has accompanied the flying doctor services in the Australian outback and in Lesotho, released lions for the Born Free foundation in South Africa, travelled with children with life-limiting illnesses to visit Santa in Lapland and been involved with countless public health campaigns in countries as diverse as China, Brazil, Sweden and Japan.
He has appeared on several TV quiz shows including The Chase, Pointless and Who Wants to be a Millionaire winning tens of thousands of pounds for the several charities he loyally supports including Northern Lights, London Air Ambulance, Get Ahead Charitable Trust, The Lauren Currie Twilight Foundation, Pancreatic Cancer Action, Stroke Association, British Heart Foundation, Breakthrough Breast Cancer, Diabetes UK, The Meningitis |Research Foundation and The Matt Hampson Foundation.
Dr Hilary appeared regularly on the late Steve Wright’s Radio 2 show and is a regular contributor to a number of popular newspapers and magazines.
He presented Meridian’s “Loud and Clear“ and ”The Full Treatment“ he appeared on BBC 1 in “The Health Show “alongside Terry Wogan and more recently he presented “How the NHS Changed the World“ on BBC 2 and reached the later stages of Dancing On Ice on ITV.
His first two novels, FRONTLINE and “THE EYE OF THE STORM” were published in September 2021/22 and he has authored several previous books including What’s up Doc, A Day in Your Life, Your Child’s Health, I’m Too Busy to Be Stressed - A Change for The Better & What’s the Alternative? He has also presented a number of self-help audiotapes Classic Relaxation with Deutsche Gramophone and with New World Music, Perfect Weight, Positive Health, Tranquil Sleep and Ultimate Relaxation.
He continues to work part time as GP and in Public Health and believes that exercise, love and laughter remain the best medicines of all. He was awarded an MBE in October 2020 for services to public health, medical broadcasting and charity work.
He launched his popular brand-new health podcast “The Dr Hilary Show” in July 2024 which will be accessible weekly on YouTube , Spotify, Amazon Music and Global Radio Hubs.
Dr Lucy Longhurst is a psychologist in private practice in Central London.
She has embraced a range of professional activities including writing, research, supervision and teaching, enhancing her clinical work as a psychologist. She was a Teaching Fellow at The University of Surrey on both Clinical and Counselling Psychology DPsych Programmes, and a research supervisor and visiting lecturer at City University, London.
Her doctoral research explored the experiences of British paratroopers who remained psychologically robust, despite traumatic encounters with life-threatening events in combat. This illuminated factors that lead to growth rather than dysfunction. She won the BPS Trainee Prize.
An erstwhile broadcaster, she has extensive experience on national and regional radio, presenting and producing arts/entertainment programmes. She funded her switch from broadcasting to psychology as a television script-writer and voice-over artist for film, TV and radio. She was also an editor for an international rock music magazine.
Peter is a clinical psychologist and organisational consultant.
His in-depth and pragmatic approach to work-related issues is underpinned by his clinical psychology practice, his experience of a wide range of organisations, and his passion for individual professional development.
He is especially interested in the association between underlying drives and
competencies. He believes that individuals are more likely to enjoy their work and give of their best when their career choice matches their core values.
After leaving the NHS in the early 1990’s Peter began his organisational work by helping the UK Civil Service with the selection of graduates for their Fast Stream Training Programme. He broadened his experience in the late 1990’s when he helped several Employee Assistance Programme companies develop their coaching, consulting, and mentoring services.
In the early 2000’s he joined the Bridge Consulting Group, a pioneering team which specialised in manager selection and leadership training. Over the next eight years he worked extensively on assessment centres, mostly in the fast-moving consumer goods sector. At the same time, he developed his leadership and manager training skills.
For the past twenty years he has worked as an independent organisational
consultant, providing specialist services to individuals and groups from a variety of sectors, including health, education, and the civil service. His roles have varied from training, leadership mentoring and team development, to providing specialist services to HR departments.
Dr Robert Cohen, is a specialist in psychological medicine, and has over thirty years of experience working with business personnel at all levels, as well as running a busy private practice. He has published articles on stress-related disorders and is the co-author of an undergraduate textbook on mental health problems.
He helps individuals optimise their performance at work, develop more balanced lifestyles and overcome self-imposed obstacles and barriers that sometimes prevent individuals from fulfilling their professional and personal potential. He has considerable expertise in a wide range of psychological tools and techniques used to achieve these objectives, and has lectured extensively to medical and non-medical audiences on topics relating to wellbeing, stress-management and self-enhancement.
He is particularly passionate about enabling professionals to achieve a greater sense of happiness, fulfilment and success by focussing on quality of life issues, managing stress and other psychological problems, and avoiding burnout. This is attained by understanding the importance of establishing realistic aims and objectives and defining and maintaining a sense of purpose in all areas of their lives.
